It all adds up to a life in Boston for Briana

-

A MATHS and science whizz is set to study at one of the world’s most prestigious universities in the world after acing her A levels.

Briana Douglas, 19, has secured a place at Massachusetts Institute of Technology in Boston starting in September.

The Parrs Wood High School pupil was delighted to have achieved A*s in maths and chemistry and As in computer science and further maths.

Briana, who lives in Hazel Grove, Stockport, with her mum, has her sights set on a career in computer science and engineering.

“I’m really happy with my results,” said Briana. “I wasn’t sure where I wanted to study so I thought I may as well apply to a university in America. I wanted to make sure I had as many options as possible. I really like the way you can study a range of subjects in your first year before choosing what you major in.

“I’ve always been really interested in computer science. The advancements being made in that particular field are fascinating to me.

“I’m hoping to work in computer science when I graduate.”

Briana says she isn’t daunted about moving abroad to study after relocating from Jamaica to Manchester with her mum two years ago. She added: “It’s been a lot of hard work to get my grades but I’m thrilled with my results.”
