- NON-LEAGUE By SHELDAN KEAY

FC UNITED OF MANCHESTER finally won their first National League North match of the season after a 2-1 victory at home to Boston United.

The hosts made the breakthrough after just eight minutes when Nathan Lowe netted, before Connor McCarthy doubled the lead for his team on 37 minutes.

Boston went down to nine men when they then had Gregory Smith and Brad McGowan sent off in the second half, but did pull a late goal back through Adam Chapman.

FC United move up to 19th place.

STOCKPORT COUNTY were also victorious after a hard-fought 1-0 win against Gainsborough Trinity at Edgeley Park.

Jason Oswell’s second-half strike was enough to earn the Hatters all three points and leave them in eighth spot in the table.

SALFORD CITY came from behind to pick up a point after a 1-1 draw at Spennymoor Town.

Salford had Liam Hogan sent off in the first half, and Spennymoor took advantage of the extra man when they made the breakthrough thanks to Andrew Johnson on 74 minutes.

Despite the man deficit, Salford equalised through Ibou Touray to take a share of the spoils and put them fifth in the table.

CURZON ASHTON suffered a heavy defeat after a 3-0 loss at home to Blyth Spartans.

A Matthew Regan own goal, along with strikes from Daniel Maguire and Sean Reid were enough for Blyth, with Curzon now in 13th place.
