Cook puts heat on Belle Vue pals

- SPEEDWAY BY HAYLEY BROMLEY

BELLE Vue Aces skipper Craig Cook has called on his team to put aside their recent fixture frustrations and concentrate on the task at hand when they host the Rye House Rockets tonight Wednesday.

The Rentruck Aces were left disappointed in the wake of Leicester’s win at the National Speedway Stadium, and even more so after missing out on vital league points on Monday at Poole and Wolverhampton.

But the captain has ordered his side to remain focused on their play-off ambitions, despite their recent setbacks, and is determined to fire them back to winning ways against the Rockets.

Cook said: “We’ve got to put the last few days to rest now. We can’t do anything about those results, and in turn those results have no bearing on our match against Rye House.

“It’s a brand new day with a totally new set of circumstances. Hopefully Max Fricke will be back with us soon but until then we’ve just got to keep digging and chipping away at our goal.

“Rye House have proven their potential around here already so we need to stay focused, but at least this time the likes of Krzysztof Kasprzak is riding in a more suitable position at No.4.

“Obviously with Steve Worrall having prior commitments at Newcastle it does leave quite a gap in the team, but fair play to Mark Lemon in his choice of guest, Charles Wright is a top choice.

“At the end of the day, we’ve got one foot in the play-offs and not one of us wants to screw up our chances of getting that league title this year. It’s something everyone wants. Especially me.”

Just one Premiership fixture remains for the Rentruck Aces in Manchester as the King’s Lynn Stars visit the National Speedway Stadium on September 1. Tickets are available online now at bellevueaces.co and at the ticket office on race night.
