Mourinho is set to be left wanting in window

- By SAMUEL LUCKHURST

UNITED are expecting a quiet final two days of the transfer window, despite Jose Mourinho’s desire to sign a left-back.

M.E.N. Sport understands the Reds have made no headway in their attempts to reinforce their left flank after Inter rejected bids for Croatian winger Ivan Perisic.

United have also shown interest in Danny Rose, but did not plan to bid for the Tottenham defender this year.

The Reds have scouted Celtic left-back Kieran Tierney and Mourinho aired his admiration for Real Madrid’s Gareth Bale, but senior United sources do not expect the club to add to their squad before tomorrow’s deadline.

Mourinho said: “Everyone knows I would like a fourth player and I can’t hide that because I had it in my mind. But I am happy if I am not going to have [a fourth player] and I don’t think I am going to have.

“And I was the first to tell my board not to feel any kind of pressure from me in that respect, but probably next summer, I have to try to get a player for a position that I think can make us stronger.”

It is also understood United are yet to agree a deal with Valencia for midfielder Andreas Pereira, amid speculation linking the Brazilian with a loan move to the La Liga side.

Pereira spent last season on loan at relegated Granada in the Spanish top-tier and was rewarded with a new squad number upon his return at United.
