Corrie stars swap Rovers for swanky new bar in MediaCity...

-

THE familiar setting of the Rovers Return was exchanged for a night out at one of MediaCityUK’s newest bars for the cast of Coronation Street. Soap favourites stepped out together for the opening of The Botanist at Orange Tower, just a short walk from the ITV1 show’s set at Trafford Wharf.

The Corrie gang dined at Cau next door before heading to The Botanist for the launch party.

Daniel Brocklebank, Dolly-Rose Campbell, Melanie Hill, Rob Mallard, former Corrie star Hayley Tamaddon and assistant director Woody Wade were on great form as they posed for the cameras at the new venue on the banks of Manchester Ship Canal at Salford Quays. Melanie looked a far cry from her kebab shop worker character Cathy Matthews in a snazzy white blouse with a cut-out heart-shaped detail teamed with brightly patterned trousers, camouflage shoes and an aqua green coloured bag. Dolly swapped her mouthy character Gemma Winter’s revealing cropped tops for a pretty polka dot patterned skirt with a white T-shirt and stylish black biker jacket with black ankle boots. And Hayley, who played the soap’s Andrea Beckett, showed off her summer tan in a floaty animal print dress and open-toe sandals. Daniel, who plays the vicar Billy Mayhew, was also rocking a biker jacket with black skinny jeans.

After he shared a photo of himself with pal Hayley on Twitter, co-star Patti Clare who plays Mary Taylor praised: “Beautiful!!”

And it sounds like they had a great night, with actress and singer Hayley performing for the VIP guests on the night.

She told her fans on Twitter: “Fab night @thebotanistuk #mediacity great food, drink service, and a fab band which I had the pleasure of singing with!! #whythehellnot.”

The Botanist, which has branches in Manchester city centre, Didsbury and Knutsford, is near both the ITV and BBC studios.

And we spied BBC favourite Mike Bushell joining the revellers at the Thursday night bash.

It covers 6500 sq ft of drinking and eating space with room for 146 diners and features a large outside terrace allowing for al fresco drinking and dining.

On the food menu will be the brand’s signature hanging kebabs along with deli boards, nibbles and pub grub staples such as rotisserie chicken, inspired by the in-house barbecue, as well as an extensive cocktail menu offering more than 45 botanical-based concoctions and serving more than 60 ales, beers and ciders from around the world.

It joins brands including Cau, Ziferblat, Dockyard, Wagamama and Prezzo on MediaCityUK.
