Walker’s video jibe with United target

- By SAMUEL LUCKHURST

KYLE Walker trolled Tottenham and England team-mate Eric Dier for wanting to join United during a live Instagram video.

M.E.N. Sport reported in July Dier was ‘desperate’ to join the Reds, who earmarked him as their primary midfield target.

However, Spurs gave United short shrift when they enquired about the England international and Jose Mourinho settled on his former Chelsea enforcer Nemanja Matic, who has made an excellent start at Old Trafford.

Spurs playmaker Dele Alli was filming a live video on his Instagram account as England prepared to take off for their World Cup qualifier with Malta when Dier jokingly referred to their former club team-mate Walker as a ‘traitor’ for joining City. Walker then replied: “It was alright when you wanted to go to United.”

Alli – unsurprisingly– deleted the video.

“It’s just a bit of friendly banter,’’ Walker said at an England press conference.

“I think it’s been took a bit too far, me, Del, Harry [Kane], Eric, we’re all very close. I’ve known them for a good six, seven years now.”

Asked if Dier called him a traitor, Walker replied: “Yeah, it’s just one of them things that you just have a bit of fun about.

“You know, me and Eric have a good relationship on and off the field.

“We have banter together and I take it, he takes it.

“That’s just about it, really.’’
