Play shows the way to be more Martyn...
A NEW play will celebrate the life and the legacy of Martyn Hett, one of the 22 people who lost their lives in the Manchester Arena bomb attack.
Since Martyn’s death, his friends and family have campaigned for people to ‘Be More Martyn’, encouraging more people to live with his enthusiasm, positivity and decision to live life to the full.
Produced with the support of Martyn’s family, the play #BeMoreMartyn will run at Ancoats’ Hope Mill Theatre on Sunday 22 and Monday 23 October, based on memories of Martyn shared with producers Adam Zane and Mike Lee. From his hilarious compilations of Coronation Street’s Audrey Roberts to his unparalleled love of Michelle McManus, #BeMoreMartyn will see Martyn’s favourite divas and their songs performed by local artists.
As well as celebrating an extraordinary life, organisers say the play explores what Martyn’s legacy could be and asks the question “How do we be more Martyn?”
Adam, artistic director of Hope Theatre Company and director-producer of #BeMoreMartyn, said: “This is a unique event celebrating Martyn’s extraordinary take on popular culture.”
All profits will be donated to Martyn’s favoured charities, Beacon Counselling, Beechwood Cancer Care Centre and Kidscan in his memory.
