RYAN Thomas appeared bemused by talk that he is set to join the iconic Australian soap Neighbours.
The former Coronation Street actor has been rumoured to be returning to soapland, swapping the cobbles of Weatherfield for sunny Erinsborough.
In an interview with ITV1 chat show host Lorraine Kelly, the Manchester actor didn’t rule out that he was heading Down Under, but he appeared bemused by the talk of his first role after leaving Corrie last year.
Ryan, who is currently appearing on Celebrity Island with Bear Grylls, also addressed speculation that he would be following his younger brother Adam’s footsteps by taking part in I’m A Celebrity... Get Me Out Of Here! Lorraine asked: “So Australia no? You’re not even going to Neighbours?”
And Ryan replied: “I keep getting this all the time - the jungle, Neighbours.”
Lorraine explained: “I suppose it’s because you’ve left Corrie and people think you have to immediately bounce into something else - which of course you don’t.”
It has been reported that Ryan will play a character called Raphael in Neighbours, which made huge stars of the likes of Kylie Minogue and Jason Donovan. Ryan said he decided to take part in Bear’s survival show because there’s no competition to find a winner.
