Cab ankle break riddle

-

POLICE are trying to establish the circumstances surrounding a mysterious incident in which a woman broke her ankle while getting out of a taxi near Manchester Piccadilly station.

The 40-year-old had taken a cab with a friend and they were dropped off at the short-stay car park. GMP said the woman stayed in the vehicle after her friend got out to withdraw cash to pay the fare. The taxi was then driven onto Fairfield Street. At some point the woman exited the taxi, breaking her ankle in the process. It is not known why the taxi left the car park – or why the woman got out when she did. The incident took place at around 1am on Friday, July 28, but was not reported to police until Monday, August 14.

Police are appealing for witnesses to come forward.

Officers believe two people who approached the taxi before it drove away from the station may have information that could help them.
