Music group hits right note with name change

-

A CHARITY that brings music to the ill, elderly and disabled has changed its name.

Music in Hospitals, which offers concerts across Manchester, was set up in 1948 and aims to offer live music to those who need it most.

The charity has now changed its name to Music in Hospitals and Care.

It has always offered live events to hospitals, hospices, day centres, special schools, nursing and residential homes, but bosses felt the new name better reflected what they actually offered day-to-day.

Patients with dementia in particular benefit from the performances where familiar music helps them to reminisce about happier times.

Chairman of Music in Hospitals and Care, Peter Fairlie, said: “Although we have always provided live music right across the healthcare spectrum, our new name, Music in Hospitals and Care, better reflects the inclusive nature of what it is we do through visiting all healthcare venues.

“Together with our refreshed logo we look forward to continuing the valuable service to vulnerable adults and children in the healthcare system.”
