Thieves blow up cashpoint

THIEVES blew up a supermarke­t cash machine before stealing all the money inside.

The yobs ‘struck terror in the local community’ when they set off the explosion on Church Lane in Lowton, Wigan.

They stole the entire contents of the cash machine before driving off in a white car.

Police are now urging anyone who saw anything suspicious to get in touch.

Det Con Chris Waddicar, said: “These men have not only stolen a large amount of money, they have caused a significan­t amount of damage and disrupted this shop’s day-to-day running.

“People in the area must have heard the noise. I’m asking for anyone who saw people acting suspicious­ly, or a white car in the area at the time, to get in touch.”

The incident happened at around 4am on Thursday, September 7.
