AIRBNB guest arrivals doubled in the north west region last year according to a new report.
The online marketplace and hospitality service has released its first Insights Report to show the rate of growth.
Hosts in the north west region welcomed 325,000 guests into their homes last year, a growth rate of 116 per cent on the previous year. This generated an estimated £3.46bn in economic activity for local communities.
The UK has continued to thrive as a destination on Airbnb since July 2016, with inbound guest growth of 81 per cent spread across all 12 regions.
James McClure, general manager for Northern Europe, said: “The UK continues to break records on Airbnb - both as a worldleading destination, and for the benefits that hosting generates for local families and their communities.”
