‘When I come back, the world will know’ – Zlatan

- By CIARAN KELLY

ZLATAN Ibrahimovic has warned that the ‘world will know’ when he returns from injury after revealing that ‘the knee is almost there’.

The Swede finished as the club’s top scorer last season, with 28 goals, despite tearing his anterior cruciate ligament against Anderlecht in April.

Ibrahimovic’s contract was not initially renewed, but he has since rejoined United on a one-year deal as he steps up his comeback.

The 35-year-old has bounced back remarkably well from the setback, putting in the hours at Carrington, and Jose Mourinho has named him in his squad for the Champions League group stages.

And while he stopped short of estimating when he will return to action, Ibrahimovic has vowed to make a big impact in his second season at Old Trafford.

“The knee is almost there. I want everybody to have patience,” he said.

“And when I come back, the world will know.”

United were not the only club interested in signing Ibrahimovic despite his injury, with LA Galaxy and AC Milan also reportedly keen.

But his agent, Mino Raiola, has revealed there was only one club ever on his mind – while also hinting his client could be back playing in early 2018.

“Ibrahimovic? He is doing well, he could return in January but that is uncertain,” he said. “I am telling the truth, I didn’t try to bring him to Italy. We decided to respect Manchester United’s project.”
