Woman tasered at sta­tion af­ter ‘mak­ing threat to kill’

THIS is the mo­ment a woman was Tasered by po­lice dur­ing rush hour at Manch­ester Pic­cadilly train sta­tion.

Wit­nesses said the woman, be­lieved to have been hold­ing a pair of scis­sors, ‘lunged’ at a fe­male po­lice of­fi­cer at around 6.25pm.

It is un­der­stood the of­fi­cer then dis­charged her Taser, and the woman was thrown to the floor im­mo­bilised.

Images taken by a pho­tog­ra­pher who was in the sta­tion re­veal the dra­matic in­ci­dent as it un­folded.

One shows the woman ly­ing with scis­sors near to where she fell as a po­lice woman stands over her with a dis­armed yel­low Taser gun.

The woman is also seen wak­ing up and climb­ing to her feet – be­fore stand­ing out­side the sta­tion in hand­cuffs, flanked by three of­fi­cers.

It is un­der­stood that the po­lice­woman was alone when the in­ci­dent be­gan but other of­fi­cers at the sta­tion quickly came to her aid. No one is be­lieved to have been in­jured in the in­ci­dent.

One wit­ness, who asked not to be named, said: “First I heard shout­ing and saw a po­lice of­fi­cer. Next thing a woman’s be­ing Tasered and she fell to the floor. They hand­cuffed her and took her away.”

A Bri­tish Trans­port Po­lice spokes­woman said a woman had been ar­rested on sus­pi­cion of mak­ing threats to kill. She was taken to hos­pi­tal for as­sess­ment.
