Woman tasered at station after ‘making threat to kill’
THIS is the moment a woman was Tasered by police during rush hour at Manchester Piccadilly train station.
Witnesses said the woman, believed to have been holding a pair of scissors, ‘lunged’ at a female police officer at around 6.25pm.
It is understood the officer then discharged her Taser, and the woman was thrown to the floor immobilised.
Images taken by a photographer who was in the station reveal the dramatic incident as it unfolded.
One shows the woman lying with scissors near to where she fell as a police woman stands over her with a disarmed yellow Taser gun.
The woman is also seen waking up and climbing to her feet – before standing outside the station in handcuffs, flanked by three officers.
It is understood that the policewoman was alone when the incident began but other officers at the station quickly came to her aid. No one is believed to have been injured in the incident.
One witness, who asked not to be named, said: “First I heard shouting and saw a police officer. Next thing a woman’s being Tasered and she fell to the floor. They handcuffed her and took her away.”
A British Transport Police spokeswoman said a woman had been arrested on suspicion of making threats to kill. She was taken to hospital for assessment.
