THE DyNASTY inspired us in wedding showdown

CORRIE STARS WATCHED USA CLASSIC DRAMA BEFORE BRAWL

-

SAMIA Longchambon and co-star Catherine Tyldesley were inspired by classic drama Dynasty while filming their epic wedding fight on Coronation Street.

The soap favourite who plays Maria Connor in Corrie CRASHED the wedding of Eva Price and Aidan Connor after cheating with the groom-to-be - and her shock appearance at the ceremony leads to a scrap in a fountain screened tonight.

Samia, whose hairdresser character Maria has been exposed as having an affair with factory boss Aidan, says she and Catherine wanted their scenes to be even better than a legendary catfight between soap queens Krystle Carrington and Alexis Colby in a lilypond in Dynasty. These memorable scenes from the 80s had the love rivals dubbed “a couple of female mud wrestlers” by Krystle’s husband Blake.

Samia said: “We’ve all been waiting for a year now for this to culminate and kick off epically and it really hasn’t disappointed.

“It’s quite dramatic what happens. There was no preparation. I didn’t go swimming in any ponds but Cath actually sent me a YouTube video link to the Alexis and Krystle Carrington fight in Dynasty and she was like ‘we’ve got to smash it and do better than that.’

“So that was our kind of gauge and on the day hopefully we didn’t disappoint.”

Asked if the showdown between Eva and Maria are the most dramatic wedding scenes Coronation Street has ever seen, she told us: “These scenes are going to be up there.

“Hopefully they’ll go down in Corrie history.

“We loved filming them and it was just lovely, a proper treat to get those storylines.”

The wedding drama tonight kicks off six episodes a week on Coronation Street with an extra episode on Wednesdays.

Eccles actress Samia told the chat show Loose Women that she and Cath, from Walkden, had a paramedic on standby for their scrap-
