Art battle to draw a crowd at Albert Hall
SOME of Manchester’s top street artists, painters, illustrators and tattooists will go head-to-head in a live art battle at Albert Hall.
The 10 winners of the previous Art Battle Manchester events will face off one final time inside the spectacular grade II listed Wesleyan chapel, which has been restored and revived as a music venue.
Each competitor will have 30 minutes to create their masterpiece in front of a live audience, who will get to decide the winner.
The artists will be joined at the Battle Royal event by famous Mancunian faces including former Hacienda DJ Dave Haslam, poet Tony Walsh and Big Brother winner Izzy Warburton, who will compete in a celebrity round.
Their pieces will be auctioned off to raise money for Greater Manchester Mayor Andy Burnham’s homelessness fund.
Launched in 2013, Art Battle Manchester has popped up everywhere from a skate park under the Mancunian Way to London Road Fire Station.
Founder John Macaulay wanted to create an art-focused event with a gig atmosphere, making it accessible to everyone.
The Battle Royal showdown takes place on Saturday September 30, from 7pm to 11pm. Broadcaster and DJ Hattie Pearson is on hosting duties on the night, which will also feature art exhibitions, DJ sets, street food and a licensed bar.
Tickets cost £15 and are available now from Skiddle.
