CCTV footage has captured the horrific moment a north Manchester carpark attendant was knocked out cold with one punch by a man with a knuckle duster – all because he asked him to pay £3 for parking.

Two men are seen approaching Mudathir Mohammed before they lean in close in a threatening manner.

One of the men then swings a knock-out punch at his head.

The yobs then run away into two separate cars – a silver Audi and a black BMW – as Mudathir is left lying on the ground.

He comes round then gets on all fours, hauls himself up, and staggers to a gate, helpless, confused and covered in blood.

The culprits are seen speeding away from the scene after the assault, which happened in broad daylight at Lockett Street carpark in Strangeways.

The 28-year-old was later taken to Manchester Royal Infirmary by ambulance, where he was kept overnight for treatment.

He suffered a broken nose and had to have four stitches to his lips following the attack, which happened at 3.20pm last Sunday.

Recalling the horrific event, Mudathir, who is from Sudan and lives in Hulme, said: “Two men and a lady came up to me in a black BMW and a silver Audi.

“When they parked I asked them for money, our carpark charges £3 for all day. They said ‘we don’t pay you money.’

“I was talking to them nicely and being friendly, I said ‘we charge everybody.’

“I put my hands behind my back and leant against a car. One of the men went away and came back with another man.

“They came up very close to me and had their hands behind their backs.

“One of the men hit me and I fell down. I was on the ground.

“Next thing, I woke up in hospital and I said ‘somebody punched me’ to the nurse, I wondered who it was. Then I saw the CCTV. I am still in pain, it makes me sad.” Joint owner of the carpark Akhtar Hussain spoke of his shock that somebody would attack Mudathir. He said: “He’s a gentleman, he’s never had trouble with anybody. Everybody feels so sorry for him. We can’t believe this happened to him. “He’s a strong, healthy man, otherwise he probably would have died. He was bleeding and bleeding. They used a knuckle duster and broke his nose. His gums are badly damaged.” The suspect who punched Mudathir is described as asian and in his thirties. He is about 5ft 7 and well-built. A GMP spokeswoman said: “Police received a report shortly after 4.30pm on Sunday, October 1, that a 28-year-old man was assaulted on Lockett Street. Police conducted enquiries and no-one was arrested.” Joint carpark owner Akhtar Hussain
