THE parents of GMP detective Leanne McKie have paid tribute to their ‘beautiful and loving daughter.’

The body of the Wilmslow mother-of-three was found in Poynton Park near Stockport in the early hours of Friday, September 29.

Leanne’s parents, Raymond and Ellen, have now paid an emotional tribute to their daughter.

They said: “Leanne was a beautiful and loving daughter and a wonderful mother to our three special grandchildren. She was the light of our lives and will be so sadly missed every day. Love Mum, Dad and close family.”

Mrs McKie had served with Greater Manchester Police since 2001, and worked in the serious sexual offences unit. Her colleagues at GMP paid tribute to the detective, who ‘worked tirelessly to provide support and seek justice for victims of sexual crimes.’

Chief Constable Ian Hopkins of Greater Manchester Police said: “I would like to offer my most sincere condolences to Leanne’s family and friends at this devastating time.

“My heart particularly goes out to her three young children, who she adored. Leanne worked tirelessly to provide support and seek justice for victims of sexual crimes. She will be sorely missed by everyone she worked with.”

Leanne’s husband, police sergeant Darren McKie, 43, of Burford Close, Wilmslow, appeared at Chester Crown Court on Wednesday charged with her murder. He was remanded in custody and a trial date has been set for March 5 next year.
