Aces on mission to bring home silverware

- SPEEDWAY By HAYLEY BROMLEY @MENSports

BELLE Vue won’t allow lightning to strike twice, insists Craig Cook, as he readies his team for one last intensive, two-legged clash against Wolverhampton in the knock-out cup Grand Final.

The Rentruck Aces travel to Monmore Green looking to put right the mistakes of their recent play-off semi-final where the Parrys International Wolves just pipped them to the title decider.

But the tables have turned on their Black Country hosts after the loss of not one but four of their regular septet due to injury – Freddie Lindgren, Kyle Howarth, Rory Schlein and Jacob Thorssell.

R/R remains in effect for Thorssell at No.4, while Nick Morris, Ricky Wells and Scott Nicholls step in for Lindgren, Howarth and Schlein, and Belle Vue utilise R/R for the injured Max Fricke.

Cook admits the frustration of just missing out on his third consecutive play-off final was hard to stomach, but he’s more determined than ever to bring KOC silverware to Manchester.

He said: “If I’m being honest, I don’t feel the best team made it through to that grand final.

“But that’s water under the bridge now and the boys are channelling all their efforts into winning here.

“It’s our last two meetings of the season and we’re determined to make them count.

“We want to bring at least one trophy back to Manchester this year and now is the perfect opportunity.

“Wolverhampton are seriously depleted and though we ourselves are without Max, on paper we should be able to go to Monmore and make a decent impression ahead of the home leg.”

There’s plenty to look forward to as the season reaches its climax, with both the Premiership Aces and the National League Colts facing a very busy end to their respective 2017 campaigns.

The Rentruck Aces have a grudge match brewing with the Wolverhampton Wolves at home on Wednesday, October 11, while the Cool Running Colts clash with Mildenhall on Friday, October 13.

A new event to the calendar, the ACU British Sidecar Speedway Championship Final, graces NSS shale on October 14, before the end of season celebration, ‘The Maugers’, on Saturday, October 21.

Tickets for all upcoming events are available now at bellevueaces. co.uk and at the ticket office on race night.
