Authentic taste of Spain in Knutsford
SPANISH tapas bar Evuna has opened its first Cheshire venture - giving a heritage building in Knutsford a new lease of life.
The owners of Evuna, which currently has Deansgate and Northern Quarter venues, have transformed the Grade II-listed Tudor building on Knutsford’s King Street to become their third branch.
And they have uncovered many of the historical features of the building that had been hidden away in its previous incarnation as a bath showroom.
That includes a huge original bakery oven complete with original tilings and metal plates bearing the makers F Mason Limited of Levenshulme as an impressive new centrepiece to the ground floor bar.
Upstairs is the main restaurant, with the original open beams, although owner Jane Dowler admits there has been a major renovation to get it looking how it does now.
Jane says: “It has been hard work and our biggest restaurant yet, but we’re so pleased with the results. And the reaction so far in Knutsford has been brilliant, people love to pop in and see what we’ve done with the building, and we’re the only place in town to get authentic Spanish tapas.” The new restaurant is Evuna’s most ambitious restaurant to date, with three floors devoted to the best in Spanish food and wine as well as a new outdoor space for year-round fine dining. There is a basement bar and a traditional wine cellar, visible through glass paving from the street outside while the ground floor will be a bustling tapas bar in keeping with Evuna NQ. Upstairs on the first floor, leatherlined booths and freestanding tables offer a more formal dining experience. There is a separate area for up to 20 people to hire privately for parties, celebrations and work functions on the first floor too. To the rear of the building is a first for Evuna - a delightful Spanish Garden, with a retractable roof for all year around dining. When it comes to food, Evuna’s signature blend of tapas, main courses and paellas are on the menu, alongside a boutique Spanish wine list. As restaurant founder and wine expert, Jane Dowler, buys direct from vineyards in Spain, Evuna also offers some of the most competitively priced Spanish wines in the UK, with no extras going to distributors.
