THE City of Manchester Swim Team will take on some of the world’s best, including Olympic and World Champion Adam Peaty in home water this weekend.

The event, at the Manchester Aquatics Centre on Saturday and Sunday, will feature eight members of the 2017 World Championships Team GB squad

Chloe Golding, a member of the Manchester squad who is studying Sports Science and Physiology at Manchester Metropolitan University, will take part in the 100m and 200m backstroke, 200m Individual Medley and 100m butterfly and can’t wait to test herself against the world’s best.

She said: “It’s really good to be able to race a high-level meet at this early point in the season, it really helps for the rest of the season.

“To be surrounded by people at such a high-level like this it’s really motivational for us. I raced in the short-course meet last year and now it’s a long-course event leading into the Commonwealth Games trials.”

Ashley Hogg, who will be swimming the 200m and 400m freestyle, said: “A lot of the high performance teams from around the country will be coming because it gives them a chance to practice their race details.”

Tickets for the The 2017 Manchester International Swim Meet, which is presented by Manchester City Council and the City of Manchester Aquatics Swim Team, can be purchased on the day. For information visit cityofmanchesterswimteam.co.uk.
