Ash has no worries over United future

- By ALEXANDRA PORTER

ASHLEY Young insists he is fully focused on his United career and knocked back any speculation about his future.

The versatile Young, who has featured at full-back and on the wing for the Reds this season, was the subject of transfer speculation last January.

After playing just three times in three months from November last year amid interest from China, there were suggestions that Young’s United career was over.

But the 32-year-old has worked his way back from injury at the end of last season to win a place in Jose Mourinho’s strongest XI, and he revealed any potential move is not on his mind.

Speaking ahead of the Champions League clash with Benfica tonight, Young said: “Wherever the manager asks me to go and play, I give 100 per cent as soon as I put on that United shirt.

“I have been playing games and that is what the focus is on playing well and doing well for the team.

“If any offers come then the club will come and speak to me.”

Young also fielded questions about Mourinho’s future as United manager, but would not be drawn into commenting on the stories suggesting a possible link with Paris Saint-Germain.

Added Young: “If you look at how well we did last season and the trophies we picked up, hopefully we can continue.”
