Dale squander two-goal lead

-

ROCHDALE threw away a two-goal lead as they were held to a 2-2 draw at home to Northampton Town last night.

Ian Henderson got the opener for Dale after 25 minutes, before doubling his tally. It seemed they were on course for a comfortable win, but they couldn’t hold on, as goals from Ash Taylor and David Buchanan in the final 20 minutes pegged back the hosts.

Rochdale are now 20th in the League One table, one point above the relegation zone.

OLDHAM ATHLETIC’s game also ended in a draw after they came from behind to pick up a hardfought point at Bradford City.

Latics headed into the game having won all four of their matches under caretaker boss Richie Wellens, but they conceded early on when Paul Taylor netted for his side after just three minutes.

Oldham ensured they were soon on level terms, as Eoin Doyle scored on 23 minute to make it 1-1.

Wellens is expected to be given the role, having now won four and drawn one of his five games in charge so far.

BURY have dropped back into the relegation zone as they were beaten 2-1 by Blackpool at Bloomfield Road.

It looked like it would be goalless at the break, but Blackpool broke the deadlock shortly before halftime when Kelvin Mellor found the net.

Bury managed to equalise on 58 minutes thanks to Jermaine Beckford, but they weren’t on level terms for long as Curtis Tilt restored Blackpool’s lead just a few minutes later.

WIGAN ATHLETIC were knocked off the top of the table after they were held to a 1-1 draw at Gillingham.

It could have been even worse for Wigan, as it looked like they were heading for defeat when Tom Eaves gave Gillingham the lead shortly into the second half.

Paul Cook’s men were determined not to leave empty-handed though, as Sam Morsy popped up with an equaliser during the closing stages to make it 1-1.
