Appeal over boy stabbing

DETECTIVES are still urgently seeking clues to find the knifeman who brutally attacked a 15-year-old boy.

Kyron Webb was found by chance by paramedics who were passing in Worsley Avenue, off Moston Lane, Moston, at 7pm on Tuesday.

The teenager had suffered serious stab wounds and was rushed to hospital where he was in an extremely critical condition.

A 13-year-old boy arrested on suspicion of causing grievous bodily harm in connection with the attack was later released without charge. The youngster has now been eliminated from the investigation and detectives have launched a new appeal for anyone who knows the identity of the attacker to come forward. They say they are still unclear how Kyron sustained his wounds, where he was at the time and who – and how many people – may have been involved in the incident. Kyron was so badly injured he was unable to tell either the paramedics who found him or police what had happened. Police are still trying to establish Kyron’s exact movements prior to the attack. Residents living nearby said they had heard children singing ‘happy birthday’ on the street on the night Kyron was stabbed but were oblivious to what had happened until police officers arrived to cordon off the area.

Urging the public for help in moving the case forward, Chief Supt Wasim Chaudhry, of GMP’s North division, said: “My heart goes out to Kyron and his family. We know the answer to the question of what happened to Kyron lies in what others know. We are asking anyone who witnessed what happened to him to come forward and talk to us.

“Kyron’s family quite rightly have a lot of questions and I won’t stop until we are able to answer them.”
