CONCEPT restaurants have been cropping up across Greater Manchester recently.

From the Christmas pug cafe with mince pies for pups to the happiness cafe serving rainbow bagels - your niche interests are well and truly catered for.

But today sees the launch of Altrincham’s newest concept restaurant - and it takes it to another level.

Toast is the new restaurant where everything is served on - you guessed it - toast. Even the desserts.

But with a kitchen headed up by Edward Carr - a chef with experience in the likes of Aumbry, The Fat Duck and Eleven Madison Park Toast promises to be better than your average slice.

Setting up in a converted old bank at 63 Stamford New Road, Toast serves everything from eggs to apple pie on a slice of bread, with prices from £5 to £9.50.

“Who doesn’t love toast?” said coowner Justin Orange.

“It’s been 18 months in the making but it’s been well worth the wait. It’s a beautiful building. We’ve planned everything in detail, so all you have to do is turn up, relax and enjoy.”

Breakfast toast includes eggs your way for £5, mushrooms and avocado for £6.50 and crumpet, black pudding, eggs and bacon for £7.

The lunchtime offering ranges from truffled cheese on toast for £8.50, sesame chilli prawn for £9.50 and chicken thigh, honey yogurt and rocket for £9.

Toast for a sweet tooth includes dutch apple pie for £6.50, baked vanilla peaches and cream for £6.50, and chocolate and hazelnut spread with melted marshmallow for £5.50.

There’s also a Young Toasties menu, priced from £3, where every dish comes with a 25p donation to local charity, The Children’s Adventure Farm Trust.

Visitors will also find smoothies, made with adventurous ingredients like supposed superfood maca, dandelion shoots, and sunflower shoots, carefully selected wines (£17.95 per bottle), prosecco (£19.95), and craft beers and cider (around £4.50).

Meanwhile, coffee is supplied by local roaster Heart And Graft and from Sale Sharks rugby player David Seymour, who has provided a special roast from his new coffee company, Couch Grind Coffee.

The 56-cover restaurant has two distinct areas: the light-flooded Garden Room entrance with numerous glass partitions and the main area of Toast, with its exposed original architectural details, copper accents and seating sections, including booths, leather armchairs, window seats and a feature dining table.

The restaurant is open from 8am to 6pm, Monday to Saturday. For more information and reservations visit toastaltrincham.com
