Amir calls out Floyd for a final showdown

BOLTON’S KHAN TELLS MAYWEATHER TO COME OUT OF RETIREMENT TO FIGHT

AMIR Khan has called out Floyd Mayweather – urging the pound-forpound great to end his retirement and fight him.

Khan hasn’t been in the ring since he was defeated by Canelo Alvarez in May last year, but he is back in the gym and hoping for a return soon.

The Bolton boxer wants that fight to be against Mayweather, who recently retired after defeating Conor McGregor in an one-sided mismatch in August to extend his unbeaten record to 50-0. Khan has been keen for a fight with Mayweather for a number of years, and despite the American’s retirement, he hopes that now is the time for the pair to finally face off with each other.

“Floyd is a great fighter. I just have something he’s not faced, speed. Floyd knows I’m not the one to back down,” said Khan.

“It’s been a year I’ve not fought due to hand surgery. I’m ready to make my comeback at 30 years of age. Say what you like Canelo was getting outboxed.

“I was winning on [the] cards. He had power and caught me with a huge right. That’s boxing.

“Mayweather doesn’t have the power. In any fight I’ve never been outboxed. A Mayweather-Khan fight would be a game of chess. Speed, movement and accuracy will cause him problems.”

Khan has also been repeatedly linked to domestic rival Kell Brook during his career, and Brook responded to his rival on Twitter with a call out of his own.

Brook said: “If you want to play kiss-chase with retired men, shame really. Get in with me and I’ll fast track you into collecting your pension.”
