We are still in a crisis despite win admits Dale boss Hill
KEITH Hill insists there is still work to be done in turning around Rochdale’s season – but he’s confident Saturday’s win against Bristol Rovers can provide a springboard for his side.
Matt Done’s early goal proved the difference between Dale and the Pirates at the Crown Oil Arena, with Hill’s men riding their luck at times in keeping a clean sheet.
But with the result in the bag, the Dale boss is hopeful his squad can take confidence from the win and kick-start their campaign, starting with Saturday’s trip to Plymouth.
“In my psychology, in my time at this club, it was a crisis and it still is,” he said.
“One swallow doesn’t make a summer.
“But, if you take my time out of the history of this club, with all due respect, there’s not much of a history.
“We have raised the bar, or the players who have represented me have.
“So for the supporters who have witnessed what we have achieved during my time as manager, I suppose it is a crisis.
“We’ve had a result, but it doesn’t mean the crisis is over, it means continued hard work and continuing to fight.
“We’re not really conceding a lot of goals, it’s either a clean sheet or conceding two, so we have to streamline that out.
“You can count it as a crisis, but that’s one defeat in seven!”
And Hill said there is still room for improvement in terms of self-discipline among the players.
He said: “I can’t enforce discipline, it has to begin with the self. In my job all I am concerned about is self preservation.”
