Boy Blues taking on the world

-

IT was another fine performance from City’s youngsters as they contributed to England under-17s’ victory over Brazil in their World Cup semi-final.

The Young Lions qualified for Saturday’s showdown against Spain with a fantastic 3-1 win over their South American opponents.

Three City starlets started for Steve Cooper’s side with captain Joel Latibeaudiere joined by club team-mates Phil Foden and Curtis Anderson in the starting eleven.

Liverpool youngster Ryan Brewster stole the show as he netted a second hat-trick of the tournament to lead his country into the final.

From City’s point of view it was Foden who once again caught the eye with another dazzling display.

The City playmaker already left Pep Guardiola speechless with his performance against United during pre-season and former England manager Glenn Hoddle declared him more South American than the Chilean team after his contribution earlier in the tournament.

So it was no surprise Foden continued to bamboozle the Brazilian defence yesterday.

The highlight of his performance was a delicate Cruyff turn which allowed him to escape the defence and orchestrate a move that lead to England’s third goal.

City keeper Anderson earned praise for a commanding goalkeeping display as the Young Lions frustrated their South American opponents.

Latibeaudiere put in a solid display to lead his side to victory.
