Ammies look to increase gap at top of the table

- NON-LEAGUE By SHELDAN KEAY

SALFORD CITY can extend their lead at the top of the National League North table when they head to Tamworth today.

The Ammies are currently four points clear of second placed Harrogate Town, though Harrogate do have a game in hand.

Today’s opponents Tamworth are ninth in the table.

STOCKPORT COUNTY are also on their travels as they make the trip to York Street to take on Boston United.

The Hatters had been in mixed form during the early stages of the campaign, but a good run in recent weeks has seen them move up to eighth in the table. Boston have struggled this season, finding themselves in 20th place.

FC UNITED will hope they can return to winning ways when they welcome AFC Telford United to Broadhurst Park.

Tom Greaves has been in caretaker charge since Karl Marginson’s departure, but the team suffered a disappointing 4-1 defeat at Stockport last weekend. It has left them second bottom of the table, while Telford are in 13th position.

CURZON ASHTON are at home too as they face Southport at the Tameside Stadium. Curzon are in 11th position, with Southport sat in 16th.

In the National League, MACCLESFIELD TOWN could move back to the top of the table when they head to Barrow. The Silkmen are in third place, one point behind league leaders Dover Athletic.
