Ex-Centurion Mitch happy to be reunited with coach

- By TOM BRAMWELL

WARRINGTON have confirmed the signing of Australian utility back Mitch Brown, who left Leigh Centurions following the club’s relegation from the Betfred Super League.

The 30-year-old worked with new Wolves coach Steve Price during his time at Cronulla Sharks, the NRL side for which he made his professional debut in 2006.

Price had confirmed in recent weeks that the club were on the lookout for another back, which led to suggestions they may be able to tempt Josh Charnley into a return to rugby league – speculation that heightened when Sale Sharks brought in Marland Yarde at the start of the month.

However, it now appears that Brown may well be the final piece of Warrington’s recruitment ahead of the 2018 season, which has included the signings of NRL trio Tyrone Roberts, Sitaleki Akauola, Bryson Goodwin, as well as Ben Murdoch-Masila from Salford Red Devils.

“Warrington’s a power club in the Super League,” said Brown, who scored eight tries across his 26 matches for the Centurions.

“I like the way Pricey coaches, the way he structures things, and he’s a good person off the field as well.”

Price, who has replaced Tony Smith as Warrington head coach, said: “The culture I want to create is about players who are team first and willing to work extremely hard, having been involved with Mitch at Cronulla he certainly ticks those boxes.”
