Wenger says he may listen to Ozil offers in January

ARSENE Wenger has put United on alert by revealing Mesut Ozil could be available in January.

Arsenal will make a final decision on the German international next month.

But with Ozil out of contract at the end of the season and showing no sign of accepting a new deal, they know the next transfer window will be their last chance to cash in on one of their most saleable assets.

The 29-year-old is understood to be interested in a reunion with Jose Mourinho, who won the Spanish title with him at Real Madrid.

But United’s preference would be to wait until the summer when he becomes a free agent.

Arsenal are reluctant to lose Ozil for nothing, along with Alexis Sanchez, who has also refused all offers of a new deal.

And with both players able to negotiate with foreign clubs from January, Wenger knows he may have to sell now.

“No decision has been made on that front,” he told beIN Sport.

“Do we let anyone go in January? We’ll have to think about that to see where we stand with them at the end of December.”

Mourinho was frustrated after missing out on a fourth target in the summer – despite signing Victor Lindelof, Romelu Lukaku and Nemanja Matic.

Moves for Ivan Perisic failed, while Gareth Bale was also a target.

A wide man remains on the United manager’s wanted list, while Antoine Griezmann is the preferred choice at No10.

But with the Atletico Madrid forward increasingly linked with a move to Barcelona in the summer, Ozil could represent a cheaper alternative.
