Even rivals have been left drooling as City have raced to an eight-point lead in the league.

Such has been their form there is an ever-growing belief Guardiola has assembled the finest team in Premier League history.

But the former Barcelona and Bayern Munich manager refuses to indulge such talk even predicting his side will not be able to emulate Arsenal’s Invincibles by going an entire league campaign without defeat.

After the recent 3-1 win against Arsenal, he identified their failure to score even more goals – taking his players through the occasions promising moves were allowed to break down.
