CORONATION Street actor Bruno Langley will continue to appear on the soap until Christmas despite being on the sex offenders’ register.

The M.E.N. understands the disgraced actor, who yesterday admitted to two sex assaults, will appear in scenes as Todd Grimshaw until December 24.

Langley avoided a jail sentence after carrying out an attack on two women at a Manchester venue.

Manchester magistrates’ court heard how the 34-year-old drunkenly grabbed the women by the crotch during a night out at Band On The Wall in the city centre at around 1am on October 1.

Prosecutor Karen Saffman told the court Langley was ‘clearly intoxicated’ on the night and attacked his first victim after she had gone upstairs to collect her coat.

As she made her way back towards the stair, Langley grabbed her in the crotch, the court heard.

A second woman was also grabbed ‘forcefully’ in the crotch before she managed to push him off.

He was said to have also molested two others at the venue, although they did not make a formal complaint.

Langley closed his eyes for several seconds as District Judge Mark Hadfield handed the actor a 12-month community order, including 40 days of rehabilitation and a 12-week electronically monitored curfew. He was also told he must sign the sex offenders’ register for five years and ordered to pay his two victims £250 each. Langley, of Sandiway Place in Altrincham, admitted two charges of sexual assault.

Simon Hancock, defending, told the court it was an ‘isolated incident’ and his client was not a ‘serial groper.’

Langley left the show following his arrest last month.

District Judge Hadfield told Langley: “On that evening your conduct was quite disgraceful, indeed degrading. On a number of occasions you sexually assaulted females whilst being on licensed premises.”

Following the case, the actor released a statement saying: “I sincerely apologise to the people involved and affected by my disgraceful behaviour on the evening of 30th September. “I have absolutely no memory of what happened because of excessive alcohol consumption and it was for this reason that I behaved completely out of character.

“However, I take full responsibility for my actions that night. Since this incident I have been dealing with, and confronting some personal issues that I have never addressed, and I am also getting help for an alcohol problem, so that this does not ever happen again.”

He has not filmed any fresh scenes on the ITV since the allegations against him surfaced in October, when he was sacked by ITV bosses.

Initially it was reported that some or all of his outstanding scenes would be refilmed but it is now confirmed the actor will continue appearing on the soap, making his last appearance on Christmas Eve.
