Bantams lie in wait for Latics

- FOOTBALL By SHELDAN KEAY

OLDHAM Athletic have been handed an away trip to League One rivals Bradford City in the second round of the Checkatrade Trophy.

Latics found out their fate last night as Chesterfield’s 2-2 draw against Manchester City EDS at the Proact Stadium meant the Bantams finished as Group F winners.

That outcome will now see Richie Wellens’ men head to Valley Parade on Tuesday for the fixture against Bradford, with the game scheduled to kick-off at 7.45pm.

Meanwhile, Oldham have announced that their home game against Northampton Town on Saturday December 9 will be dedicated to the local emergency services.

Over 250 tickets have been distributed between the fire service, local police, paramedics and the Royal Oldham Hospital in order to thank them for their continued hard work over the past 12 months.

Players from the club will also visit local emergency stations to learn more about how they operate, and Oldham chief executive Mark Moisley is delighted with the initiative.

“I am sure all supporters, along with everyone connected to the club, will offer a very warm welcome to our guests from the emergency services,” he said.

“We are always extremely grateful to them for the roles they perform, but this year even more so following the tragic events at the Manchester Arena.”
