CATHERINE Tyldesley is leaving Coronation Street as Weatherfield favourite Eva Price.
Coronation Street bosses have confirmed that Walkden actress is departing the soap next summer after playing popular character Eva for seven years.
It has been announced that Catherine is set to exit the famous cobbles following news earlier this week that co-star Shayne Ward is also leaving the ITV1 show as Eva’s ex Aidan Connor.
A Coronation Street spokesperson said: “We can confirm that Cath Tyldesley will leave Coronation Street at the end of her current contract next year after seven years in the show.
“Cath’s portrayal of Eva Price has made her a firm favourite amongst fans and she will be missed. The producers and writers are currently working on her exit storyline which be on screen in early summer.”
Catherine’s role as the bubbly barmaid and factory worker, nicknamed Eva the Diva, has made the soap star a household name.
This year she was involved in a huge storyline which saw sassy brideto-be Eva hatch a revenge plan on fiance Aidan when she discovered he was having an affair with best friend and neighbour Maria Connor, played by Samia Longchambon.
In hilarious scenes Eva and Maria ended up fighting in a fountain at what was meant to be Aidan and Eva’s wedding day.
Eva was planning to ditch Aidan at the altar but Maria ruined the plot by revealing the fling to the guests.
Underworld factory boss Aidan then ditched Eva when he found out that she had plotted to ruin his business with love rival Adam Barlow.
Catherine, 34, is married to personal trainer Tom Pitfield and they have a two-year-old son Alfie.
