POLICE are appealing for witnesses after a young woman was raped as she made her way home from a nightclub.

The victim, in her 20s, was walking back from Guilty, in Stevenson Square, in the Northern Quarter, when she was attacked.

She told a person nearby what had happened and police were called to George Leigh Street, in Ancoats, at 3.40am on Sunday, December 10.

Detectives said: “No one should have to go through what this young woman has at the hands of this man.”

The attacker is described as white, aged in his mid-twenties, 5ft 8in tall and of medium build. He had short blonde hair brushed to the side and was wearing baggy trousers with a dark coloured anorak coat, officers said.
