Sleep it off on the Snoozeliner!

- By CHARLOTTE COX

DRUNK passengers, glaring lights and cramped conditions on the bus are often the price you pay for a night out or working the graveyard shift.

But the creators of the proposed ‘Snoozeliner’ service claim their ‘next generation’ night bus could change that forever. A far cry from your average no-frills night bus, the luxury design looks like something out of sci-fi cartoon The Jetsons.

But Simba, the firm behind the proposed luxury service, insist the scheme will be coming to Greater Manchester’s roads next autumn.

Aimed at ferrying revellers and shift workers on journeys ‘up to two hours’ between the city centre and suburban areas, Simba says they plan to meet council leaders to discuss the project in the new year. Also targeting Leeds, Birmingham and London, Simba couldn’t tell the M.E.N. which, if any, bus firms it would team up with or any routes they had earmarked. Their designs show 14 futuristic ‘sleeper pods’ with memory foam mattresses and lavender scent.

There’s a ‘vertical forest’ of air-purifying plants, plus black-out blinds and ‘orange light’ to aid sleep.

With USB chargers, wifi, valuables storage – and stewards to ensure you don’t sleep through your stop – it’s aimed at stop-outs and tired shift workers. Simba are also looking to team up with a food delivery service. There will be free mineral water, coffee and smoothies, plus ‘revitaliser kits’ providing Vitamin C and liver-cleansing milk thistle – all for a starting price of £8.50.

Earlier this year Simba released a new plane seat design, inspired by Real Madrid footballer Gareth Bale.

James Cox, Simba CEO, said: “We know that there will be lots of red tape to wade through, but are looking forward to firming up meetings with local authorities in the New Year.”
