A world of food is at new £1m restaurant
A NEW £1m restaurant which will serve more than 160 dishes from around the world is opening in Manchester just in time for Christmas.
COSMO Restaurant opened its doors on Sunday following a complete refurbishment of the three-storey building on Deansgate formerly occupied by Red Hot World Buffet.
Diners can choose from a mammoth 55m preparation area of global cuisine including Chinese, Italian, Indian, Brazilian and Malaysian which will be cooked in front of them at eight live cooking stations.
There will also be an English carvery and local specialities including Lancashire hotpot and Eccles cakes on the menu, as well as a 12m dessert counter, which will include a double Swiss chocolate fountain.
The 25,000 sq ft restaurant, which will seat 350 diners in leather booths, is a flagship for the COSMO group, which has 20 other branches across the UK.
The East-meetsWest setting has been designed by Robert Angell, who has previously designed restaurants for The Savoy, Gordon Ramsay and Marcus Waring. The group has shipped in 10 containers of Italian marble to ensure a luxurious finish and installed a stateof-the-art special effects waterfall which will screen nine different LED greetings an evening, which can be pre-booked by diners. Commercial director Kan Koo said: “We have been working incredibly hard to make sure Manchester diners can enjoy our freshy-cooked global cuisine in a sumptuous and elegant setting. “Manchester is famous as an eatingout destination and Mancunians are spoilt for choice by the selection of restaurants. “The city’s multicultural population means that practically every nationality of food is on offer in the city and there are venues to suit every budget. “We believe we are able to put the best of all these cuisines under one roof and offer it at an affordable price. “We are extremely proud to open what we believe will be one of the most innovative world buffet restaurants anywhere in the UK. This will be five-star dining for a fraction of the price and a restaurant which is architecturally inspiring and the future face of our brand.” Lunches start at £8.50, with dinner starting at £14.99 and children under 150cm can eat for half price.
