New deal for De Bruyne

SUPERSTAR MIDFIELDER READY TO SIGN NEW SIX-YEAR CONTRACT TO STAY AT CITY

- By STUART BRENNAN

CITY are set to give their fans a brilliant Christmas present… a bumper new deal for Kevin de Bruyne!

And the Blues are also hoping to make it a happy new year by following that with moves which will tie down Fernandinho, Gabriel Jesus and Raheem Sterling on new contracts.

City are expected to almost double De Bruyne’s wages to around £200,000-a-week over a contract that could be as long as SIX years, and with a crop of incentive bonuses thrown in, he will become one of the best-paid players at the club.

The two parties have been discussing a new deal, even though his current agreement does not run out until 2021.

De Bruyne’s form has already alerted Barcelona and Real Madrid, but the message to them is simple – he is not for sale at ANY price.

And with the player making it plain he is content at City, and that his family have settled in Manchester, the chances of him being poached are slim.

“I’ve no feeling to go anywhere else and enjoy being part of the project here and playing the kind of football we are playing,” he said at the weekend.

“The team is going in the right direction and that’s also important. I made the right decision coming to City and my family feels the same so everything is good.”

City have taken the same stance on De Bruyne as they have over Sergio Aguero for the past seven years, when all noise about possible transfer deals with Madrid or Barca has been firmly quashed.

The 26-year-old inspired City to their 16th straight league win, against Spurs, at the weekend.

Fernandinho, whose contract expires in the summer, is also expected to get a new deal, as is 15-goal top scorer Sterling, while Gabriel Jesus is another in line for a big pay rise after making a huge impact in his first 12 months.
