Inter boss refuses to rule out Blind move

-

INTERNAZIONALE manager Luciano Spalletti has refused to rule out signing United defender Daley Blind in the January transfer window.

Blind, 27, has started every Carabao Cup and Champions League game this season but last lined up in a Premier League fixture in August.

Ashley Young has cemented himself as United’s first choice leftback and Luke Shaw has emerged as his biggest competitor following his bright performances against CSKA Moscow and Bournemouth.

Both Shaw and Blind are contracted to United until the summer and it is understood the club has not yet taken up their option of a one-year extension on their deals.

Blind has been dropped from five of the last seven squads and was derided by United supporters after he gifted Basel a late winner last month. The Netherlands international has been linked with Inter and Spalletti was asked about the club’s possible interest.

“Blind? I talk about my players, because the points we win in the next few matches will be done with them,” Spalletti told reporters.

“I prefer to talk about my players because it is with them that we will look to be successful.”

United signed Blind from Ajax on transfer deadline day in 2014 for £13.8m and he started in their FA Cup and Europa League final triumphs in successive seasons.

Although initially bought as a central midfielder, Blind has primarily played at left-back or leftwing back this season and predominantly played at centre-half during Louis van Gaal’s second season.
