Pen hero Claudio is keen to stay with the Blues

- By JAMES ROBSON

CLAUDIO Bravo is refusing to give up on his City career despite having to play understudy to Ederson.

The Chilean was the shoot-out hero as Pep Guardiola’s side booked their place in the semi-finals of the Carabao Cup where they will meet United’s conquerors Bristol City over two legs.

It kept alive the Blues’ hopes of an unprecedented quadruple - but it was a rare first-team opportunity for Bravo since Ederson’s £35m arrival from Benfica in the summer.

The former Barcelona goalkeeper has been linked with a move to River Plate in Argentina, but he is open to remaining at City after his family have settled in Manchester.

Said Bravo: “There has been stuff about River. There was an article saying that I was already preparing to return (to South America). I think there’s a long way to go for that. Life is not only about football, life involves a lot more.

“I have a family to consider. They are living in Manchester, we are thrilled that the kids are learning the language to perfection. These are things that we expect as a family, setting aside whether I’m competing or not.”

Bravo endured a miserable first season in English football after replacing Joe Hart as City’s No.1. That prompted Guardiola to make Ederson the most expensive goalkeeper in Britain, with the Brazilian justifying his price tag with some outstanding performances this season.

But Bravo insists he will not rush to any decisions over his future. He said: “It’s all about being calm, keep working, keep doing my job when I’m called upon, and being patient. In that sense I’m calm.”
