THE son of a woman who vanished from her home in Altrincham three days ago has made an emotional appeal for her safe return.

Marie Scott was last seen at around 12pm on Monday on Sandileigh Avenue in Hale. The 57-year-old is believed to have walked out of her front door with no phone and no bag, and hasn’t been seen since.

Her eldest son Stuart says the family are frantically worried and have been joining police and other organisations in desperate searches to find her.

Stuart, 37, described Marie as a ‘wonderful mother,’ who had been deeply affected by the death of her mother several weeks ago.

He told the M.E.N.: “She just disappeared. She didn’t have any appointments or anywhere she needed to go to.

“It was cold out and all she had on was a flimsy black jacket – she wasn’t geared up to go anywhere.

“We are really concerned for her and just want her home safe.”

Stuart said that he, his younger brother James, 20, and dad Jim, along with family and friends have been searching the local area on foot for any sign of Marie.

“We’ve been checking parks like Tatton and Dunham, and Styal but we’ve had no luck. It’s like she just vanished. Police are looking into CCTV footage to see if there’s anything to give us a clue which direction she went in.

“Mum is a really bubbly woman, and she loved us all so much.

“She has her own ironing business and her customers adore her, they’re always buying her presents.

“She is really popular and liked by everyone. She’s well loved, a fantastic character, funny, nice, caring.”

Appealing directly to Marie to get in touch, Stuart added: “We want you home mum. We love you and we miss you.”

Marie is described as being 5ft 4ins tall with mid-length blonde hair.

She was last seen wearing black leggings with a black bomber jacket.

Detective Chief Inspector Paul Parker, of GMP’s Trafford borough, said on Wednesday night: “Marie has now been missing for over 48 hours and her family are incredibly worried about her. Please take a good look at the photo and do what you can to help us reunite Marie with her family, who just want her home safely.”
