A MURDER investigation has been launched after two people were found dead at a house.

Detectives were called to Beech Mount in Harpurhey just after 10am yesterday.

There, they discovered the bodies of a man and a woman, both believed to be in their 30s.

The deaths are currently being treated as unexplained, police said.

The force has confirmed, however, detectives are not looking for anyone else in relation to the deaths.

The property was cordoned off and forensic officers were on the scene throughout the day.

The large semidetached property is understood to house a supported living facility for vulnerable people.

A number of floral tributes and candles were left at the scene.

Det Chief Insp Terry Crompton, of GMP’s City of Manchester team, said officers were called to the property by paramedics. “We have specially trained officers supporting the families at this very difficult time,” he added. “I would urge anyone with any information that could assist our investigation to please get in touch.” Neighbours on the street, which has a number of houses and flats - as well as a small hotel - said they had been left shocked and saddened by the horrific news. One neighbour, who asked not to be named, said the people who live at the house are predominantly male. “They’re nice and keep to themselves,” they added. Harpurhey councillor Pat Karney said: “It’s shocking, at any time of the year, to hear about such tragedies, but doubly so three days before Christmas. “Everyone in the Harpurhey community wants to extend their sympathies to the families of these relatively young people.” Anyone with any information is asked to call police on 101, quoting reference number 652 of 22/12/2017, or Crimestoppers, anonymously, on 0800 555 111.
