‘No talks’ led to Sevilla Euro ticket hike

SEVILLA have explained why United supporters will have to pay up to £133 to watch the Champions League tie in Spain next year.

Fans were outraged to find out the cheapest tickets for the February clash will cost £89 – a vast increase on what Liverpool fans paid to watch their club at the same ground last month.

Liverpool fans were charged £54 for a ticket while Leicester supporters were charged £51 per ticket last season. However, the Spanish club has explained to M.E.N. Sport that the prices have gone up for two reasons.

Firstly, there has been an increase because it is now the knockout round of the competition, which is ‘normal.’

And, secondly, the club revealed they had talks with Liverpool over ticket prices that were set.

A spokesman for the club said: “Liverpool and Sevilla had an agreement over the price of the away tickets. Most clubs talk after the draw over a number of things, and one of those questions and agreements are about prices. There were no conversations had with United and I don’t know why.”

The Manchester United Supporters Trust said the price was ‘exploitative’ and they would be lobbying UEFA over the increase.

Sevilla confirmed the home fans will also be paying an increased price for the game meaning they haven’t contravened any rules.
