Trust Jose, not Scholes

-

PAUL Scholes was a world-class midfield player. He had great vision, wonderful all-round skills and he is an icon for all us United fans.

However, I do have a lot of sympathy for the views of Jose Mourinho.

The fact that Paul was a great player does not mean he has the necessary faculties to judge a footballer, does it?

Football is full of great players who failed as football managers. Will Paul Scholes ever become the manager of Manchester United? No.

Will Paul ever become a successful manager of another football club? I have grave doubts about that.

Of course, we all imagine our heroes must know what they are talking about.

However, there is no link between being a great footballer and a great manager. Paul is entitled to his own views but we should not be so gullible as to believe he must be right.

Jose Mourinho was a non-entity as a player and Paul was a genius.

However, Jose has won an incredible amount of trophies at various clubs, including winning the Champions League at unfancied Porto and Inter Milan.

When it comes to trusting the judgement of Jose Mourinho and Paul Scholes on the art of football management, I know who I would trust the most – and it is not Paul Scholes Harry Singleton, via email
