Charlton boss blasts Pep for moaning about fixtures

-

PEP Guardiola has been mocked for complaints he made regarding the fixture list.

The City manager was upset by the Premier League’s congested schedule during the festive period, calling it ‘a disaster’ for the players.

But Charlton boss Karl Robinson doesn’t feel any sympathy for him.

The Addicks manager has suffered an injury criss in League One this season and he thinks Guardiola should realise how difficult things can be for teams lower in the football pyramid.

“I heard Pep Guardiola moan the other day they’ve got two injuries,” Robinson said. “That’s what he put down to the bad result, when they drew. He’s got two injuries and he was moaning over the Christmas period.

“Come and work in the Football League and have eight of your starting 11 out and see what it’s like then.

“No manager in the world could cope with that.”

City defeated Watford on Tuesday their fourth match in 11 days which led Guardiola to criticise the scheduling of matches over Christmas.

“The [FA] bosses have to reflect. It’s not normal to play on the 31st and two days later,” Guardiola said.

“I know the show must go on but that is not normal, they have to control it. They don’t protect the players, they are the people we come to watch - not the managers or the press conferences. Here in England you don’t protect the players, you have to look for the quality not the quantity.”
