Fans take control of Devils

- RUGBY LEAGUE By TOM BRAMWELL

THE ownership of Salford Red Devils has officially transferred to a supporter-led consortium, ending Marwan Koukash’s five-year association with the club.

With less than a month to go to the start of the 2018 BetFred Super League season, the not-forprofit holding company Salford RD Holdings has taken control of the club. The deal has been approved and ratified by the RFL, with the four leading members of the consortium expected to represent the fans and local community.

The quartet – Andrew Rosler, owner of Ideal Corporate Solutions; Asif Latief, marketing director at A-Plant; Hannah Fendell, senior associate at Williamson and Croft LLP; Dawn Fidler, founder and CEO of SuperJosh – bring a wealth of commercial experience and “a clear vision to return the club to financial sustainability”.

“This is truly an historic day for our club, as the new ownership structure puts the control of the club into the hands of the supporters,” said Andrew Rosler.

“As a new board we can’t wait to get down to business – I am sure we are at the beginning of a really exciting period in the club’s history and we look forward to working in collaboration with the supporters, businesses and the wider community of Salford to bring long overdue success to the club.”

Following the announcement, Koukash took to Twitter to explain he will continue to be involved with the Red Devils as “a devoted fan and sponsor”.

“I will also be there for the new board whenever they need my advice or support,” he added.

The prominent racehorse owner also said it had been a “pleasure” owning the club.
