Tricky the Mutt makes Sale debut

-

SALE FC Rugby Club has sniffed out a great deal with its latest signing - new mascot Tricky the Mutt.

The furry star transferred to the National Two North club from his previous role as the figurehead for Frenzy Creative in Stockport.

He made his debut before the recent 20-13 win over neighbours Sedgley Tigers, where the club’s mini and junior section provided a guard of honour as he ran out.

Scott Bambrick, chairman of the club’s Mini Junior Section, said: “Tricky comes with an excellent pedigree and a huge appetite for food.

“We have already noticed that he is very friendly and really only dislikes cats and anyone stealing his ball.”

The mutt takes his name from Sale FC stalwart Richard Trickey, who played for the North West Counties side that beat the All Blacks in 1972 and holds more than 100 Lancashire caps.

Tricky will promote the club at local events and functions and will also be available to make guest appearances at schools and birthday parties.
