Ignorance can be bliss

IN reply to Harry Singleton (This is so sad in my book, Viewpoints,

January 10), perhaps it might be in the national interest to encourage our young people to read as little as possible, to protect them from the nonsense and propaganda that controls them.

Why would we want the future of Britain to make sense of the world, when us older, supposedly better informed, people can’t?

I wonder if Harry has read Orwell’s 1984? Bren, Urmston
