A WOMAN critically injured in a blaze at a house in Salford which claimed the lives of four of her children still does not know they have died, police have said.

Michelle Pearson was placed into a medically-induced coma following the fire at her home in Walkden on December 11.

Four weeks on, the 36-year-old remains unconscious. Police confirmed there has been no change in her condition.

Michelle’s children, 15-year-old Demi, Brandon, eight, Lacie, seven, and Lia, three, died following the fire. In the days after the tragedy, a fundraising appeal was launched to pay for their funerals.

It set out to raise £15,000, but a massive £23,000 has now been donated.

A fundraiser hosted in aid of the family by the Walkden community raised £19,500 towards the cause.

United legend Ryan Giggs donated £5,000 – and signed DVDs, photos and match tickets to be auctioned off. The Pearson family has expressed its gratitude to everyone offering support and donating.

Michelle’s brother Matthew posted on the GoFundMe page: “I just want to give a huge thank you to all the people that have donated, the whole family really appreciates it and so would Michelle.

“We can all give these angels the send-off they deserve.”

The children’s grandmother Sandra Lever said support for members of the public has been ‘overwhelming.’ “Us Pearsons cannot thank you all enough,” she wrote.

Three people have appeared in court over the deaths of the children.

Zak Bolland, 23, of Blackleach Drive, Walkden, Courtney Brierley, of Worsley Avenue, Walkden, 20, and David Worrall, 25, of no fixed address, have been charged with murder and are due to stand trial on April 30.
